Whenever i’m dining out around Melbourne, i’m always eager to try out different restaurants hoping to add it to my list of favourite eateries. One of these favourite discoveries is a place called Rice Paper Scissors – an asian fusion restaurant serving up tapas style dishes.
Tucked away in Liverpool St, it’s a small yet intimate joint that manages to combine a cool and funky decor with a warm and friendly vibe. My friend and I decided to go there on a busy Wednesday night and we weren’t disappointed with what was on offer. At first glance we noticed the menu had a “$55 for 2 people” deal where you could pick any 5 dishes from the menu or specials board. It seemed like a pretty decent deal so we decided to stick with that.
From start to finish, the dishes were nicely presented and packed a punch of flavour. I loved the balance of sweet and sour, salty and spice which made it a feast for my tastebuds. I have to say though, the standout dish by far had to be the BBQ lamb ribs. From the sticky sauce to the tender and slightly charred meat falling off the bone….it was pure perfection. To top off our meal we decided throw in a couple of desserts for good measure which were equally delicious.
All in all, food and service was top notch and i’d highly recommend this place. Just be prepared to wait up to an hour for a table although there is a bar called “Double Happiness” next door if you’re keen for some drinks. Two thumbs up!
